At Wycombe Abbey, the curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and foster critical thinking from Year 7 onwards, with compulsory Latin and Greek in Year 7 and a choice of two modern languages for GCSE study. Mathematics sets early, ensuring personalised progression, while creative and critical thinking are embedded throughout the curriculum in Years 7 and 8. Beyond academics, the school offers a vibrant array of extracurricular activities, from music and drama to sports and societies. The music program includes instrumental lessons and ensemble performances, while drama encompasses annual productions and backstage involvement opportunities. With over 50 societies and clubs led by sixth formers, from fashion, embroidery and film, to MUN and diplomatic dinners, every student finds a community where they can thrive and grow, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching experience at Wycombe Abbey. Outstanding pastoral care is integral to the school's ethos, particularly praised by parents whose daughters required significant support for mental health issues, eating disorders, or SEN diagnoses. This care starts in the houses, where a housemistress, matron, and tutor ensure a balance between high expectations and wellbeing. The house system fosters trust and respect, with new students guided by older peers in mixed-age dorms. During the pandemic, the school has prioritised mental health with two dedicated counsellors, a 24/7 health centre and peer listeners trained by MIND. Discipline is firm but fair, often involving senior students in mentoring roles.

The admissions process at Wycombe Abbey is competitive, attracting around 300 applicants for 80 places at 11+, 160 for 20 places at 13+, and 190 for 20 places at 16+. The school crafts its own exam papers rather than using Common Entrance and sixth form applicants need at least six grade 9-7s at GCSE, with 9-8s in chosen A level subjects. While academic excellence is important, the school values bright, curious, and kind students willing to take risks and work hard. Roughly 9% of students come from state primary schools and 19% international students. Prospective students are encouraged to visit the school through open mornings and coffee mornings. The 11+ process begins in Year 5 with registration closing on 1st June of the previous year. The first stage involves a CAT4 test, assessing verbal, quantitative, non-verbal, and spatial reasoning. Successful candidates then attend an Assessment Day at Wycombe Abbey, including written tests, interviews, and group activities, providing a comprehensive overview of their academic potential and suitability.
