SCHOOL INFORMATION

The academic pace at Latymer is engaging, with students working diligently in a stimulating environment. With energetic teachers and strong support systems, even the lower sets maintain high standards. The innovative curriculum includes unique courses like the Global Goals course in Year 9 and the UCAS-accredited World Perspectives, encouraging students to engage with global political issues. Additionally, language learning is comprehensive, with students juggling multiple languages simultaneously, and the school plans to replace most GCSEs with home-grown qualifications by 2027 to reduce stress and better prepare students for the future. Alongside the more traditional halls and buildings, you’ll see that Latymer Upper also has state of the art modern facilities. There’s the glass and steel Performing Arts Centre, an onsite Sports Centre with a swimming pool (also open to parents) and a sports complex for football, rugby, cricket, hockey, netball and tennis a short walk away. With their own rowing facilities on the Thames, it’s not surprising the school has regular success in national competitions.

ADMISSIONS

Latymer Upper School has a selective admissions process aimed at admitting students who demonstrate academic potential and a strong fit with the school's ethos. For Year 7 entry, over 1200 candidates compete for approximately 130 places, from a mix of state primaries and prep schools. The entrance exams, held in January of Year 6, focus on English and Maths, reflecting the school's high academic standards. Successful candidates are then invited for interviews, where qualities like character, curiosity and teachability are assessed through immersive learning activities and one-on-one discussions. At 16+, applicants submit their Year 10 reports, sit the school's own exams and undergo interviews for a limited number of places.
