The admissions process for Harrow School is notably rigorous and involves multiple stages to ensure a good fit between the school, the applicant and their family. Prospective students typically register by the end of Year 5 and undergo the ISEB common pre-test and a detailed reference from their current school in Year 6. Successful candidates are then invited for house tours and interviews, with the housemasters playing a crucial role in the selection process. Applicants undergo further assessments, including the Harrow test and interviews, in Year 7. The school seeks well-rounded individuals who are academically capable, enthusiastic about boarding and willing to engage in various extracurricular activities. Admissions are competitive, with around 700 applicants vying for approximately 160 places in Year 9 and up to 20 places in Year 12, where candidates need strong GCSE results and demonstrate potential across multiple areas.
