This course empowers students to make the changes they need to create the life they want for themselves. Students will learn how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help them deal with difficult emotions and situations, how mindfulness can improve their wellbeing and what they can do to create the future they want. We all have worries that pop into our heads uninvited, but sometimes they can be overwhelming and take over our life. CBT can offer strategies to help manage our anxiety and declutter our brains from unwanted thoughts and worries. Students will start off by looking at what anxiety is and how it is affecting their everyday life. They will identify what troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviours are affecting them and look at the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and what keeps their anxieties going. Students will then learn and practise various strategies to change how they feel, what they think and what they do. By the end of the course, students will have a clearer picture of what anxiety is and how it can be managed. They will be empowered to tackle difficult situations by using the tools learnt in session, and will learn how to make changes in their life to reduce their anxiety. Handouts will be provided so that students can practise these skills now and in the future.
