Swansea University was founded in 1920, as the fourth college within the University of Wales. In 2007 Swansea University was established as its own entity as the University of Wales disbanded. Based on the coast of Swansea Bay, the university is internationally renowned with numerous subjects ranked in the top 20 in the UK. The Medicine and Mathematics departments are particular areas of note as they both received recognition from the Research Excellence Framework. It has notable alumni in a number of industries, sports, academia, politics, arts, law and business.

Swansea University offers 450 undergraduate courses, 280 postgraduate taught and 150 postgraduate research courses, making it the 3rd largest university in Wales. The university is made up of 11 schools, which fall under the schools of, 'Humanities and Social Sciences', 'Medicine, Health and Life Science', and 'Science and Engineering'. In addition to academic the Wales National Pool is located next to the campus, and is home to the Swim Wales National Performance Centre. Numerous sports accolades have been achieved by past and present students.

ADMISSIONS
The dedicated admissions team at Swansea University maintain a flexible admissions process, accounting for course and applicant's status. Most students should apply through UCAS, submitting grades and providing answers to personal statement based questions. For postgraduate courses and international students of all levels it is recommended to apply through the Learner Gateway Application Portal. All admissions are processed through the Central Applications Board.
