Birkbeck, University of London was established in 1823, originally as London Mechanics Institute. In 1866 it was renamed Birkbeck Literary and Scientific Institution as the university began to grow and expand. Finally, in 1907, Birkbeck College was established. It is one of the few higher education institutions in the UK that specialises in evening classes. ADMISSIONS

When applying to Birkbeck University for unergraduate degrees students should use UCAS. Whereas when applying for postgraduate and other applications students must use the 'My Birkbeck' online portal. Applicants must meet course-specific grade requirements and demonstrate English Proficiency through a recognised test or exam. Late applications are considered but it will be noted as a late submission.
