Build up curiosity and confidence, developing a unique take on a variety of important issues going on in the world right now. A heavy emphasis is laid on class discussion and debate during lessons.
The aim of this course is to bring students together to work towards having a better understanding of current issues and develop a curiosity and confidence in their own opinion about news headlines. Each week students will read up on a topic and in groups discuss their findings, working on listening to their peers, whilst challenging ideas in a healthy and respectful manner. The course will provide a safe space for students to talk and understand each session's content. The Educator will adopt the role of a discussion facilitator, rather than the role of the expert, encouraging the students to voice their thoughts and discoveries. The course will end with a presentation in groups. This means that students will not only learn a great deal about the world on this course, but also develop key transferable skills.
